From the Author Of Finish First: Winning Changes Everything
When I talk about finishing first, I’m not talking just about beating your competitors. To finish first is to understand what you have to offer the world and then to be the best you can be at offering exactly that. It means understanding your life purpose and putting your whole heart into being the best at what you do.
Winning is not about getting an award or a medal or making a certain amount of money. Winning is about accessing all of your innate human potential.
What’s in it for you?
Finish First: Winning Changes Everything isn’t just about Scott Hamilton and what he has achieved. In sharing his journey from a childhood fraught with illness, bullying, losing, loss, and also love, to Olympic Gold medalist, cancer survivor, and successful public figure he is also illuminating the path from loser to winner for the reader, no matter where the end of that path lies for each individual.
We can skip all the drama and heartache that comes along with finishing first if we want to. We can skip the failure and the pain of failing. We just sit on our couches and watch television. But what would we miss?
Finish First: Winning Changes Everything is a book for the person who has that niggling feeling that life should be more, that they should be more. It is for the SAHM who is now an empty nester and wondering what to do with her life, the college grad wanting more than just a job, and the retiree who feels like there is still a lot of life left to live. It is also for the artist, writer, athlete, ….. You get the idea. Scott Hamilton’s book has something to offer everyone.
Finish First: Winning Changes Everything does not offer an easy fix, or cookie cutter steps that will work for everyone, or a picture of what winning will look like for you or I. What is does offer is hope. It also offers an example of a winning mindset. This book offers wisdom born of experience. Perhaps most importantly Scott Hamilton is inviting you to take a journey to winning.
4 Things I love about this book:
First, it is an easy, entertaining read with enough depth to keep you coming back to key points over and over again.
Next, it is inspiring. I did not end this book thinking, “Well, that’s nice it worked out for him, but I can never do that.” Rather I finished thinking, “I can do this! I can decide to win”
In addition to hard copy and Kindle versions it is available on audio book. It is read by the author, which is sometimes a mistake, but in this case it works.
Finally, it is based on faith. As a Christian you will easily recognize the foundation of faith in this book. While there is the occasional Bible quote is not preachy or pedantic.
From the epilogue of Finish First: Winning Changes Everything:
What is it that would make you feel like you’ve fulfilled your purpose on this planet? This is your story to write, your victory to have. These are your ambitions to pursue. I’m not interested in helping everyone win an Olympic gold medal. That’s my story. It doesn’t have to be yours. I’m interested in helping you uncover the joy and meaning that’s found in you becoming a better version of you than you ever dreamed you could be.
This journey is one I am excited to take. Best wishes for your journey. See you at the finish line!
